Air taxi skyport location problem with single-allocation choice-constrained elastic demand for airport access

Witnessing the rapid progress and accelerated commercialization made in recent years for introduction of air taxi services near future across metropolitan cities, our research focuses on one most important consideration such services, i.e., infrastructure planning (also known as skyports). We consider design skyport locations taxis accessing airports, where we present location problem a modified single-allocation p-hub median integrating choice-constrained user mode choice behavior into decision process. Our approach two alternative objectives maximizing ridership revenue. The proposed models study incorporate trade-offs between trip length cost based travelers to determine optimal choices skyports an urban city. examine sensitivity objectives, three pricing strategies, varying transfer times at skyports. A case New York City is conducted considering network 149 zones 3 airports with over 20 million for-hire-vehicles data discuss insights around city, demand allocation different under various parameter settings. Results suggest that minimum 9 located Manhattan, Queens Brooklyn can adequately accommodate airport access travel needs are sufficiently stable against time increases. Findings from this help providers strategize options investment decisions choices.
